The Tectonic Plates

Most people in the world only hear about tectonic plates on the news when there’s been an earthquake. However, in Iceland, you have the unique opportunity to actually look at these plates in their dormant form.

The tectonic plates that you can see during your Icelandic visit sit on the Pingvellir Plain. These are the plates that separate Europe and North America. What’s so interesting about these plates is that they’re responsible for almost all the lakes and rivers that exist in Northern Europe.

Experts claim that these are some of the oldest tectonic plates in existence. When you visit Iceland, this is definitely one of the must-go places.

Vestrahorn Mountain

Once you get to this mountain you’ll feel as if you’ve reached a scene from a sci-fi movie. It has serenity and majesty that is out of this world. However, it is real and definitely a location that you should include on your list of places to visit when you visit Iceland. Imagine being able to sit on the shores of a gentle and quiet lake while enjoying one of the most stunning views that Iceland has to offer.

Depending on what time of the year you decide to go, you may find next to no one else there. If you’re someone with a passion for photography, you won’t find a better location then this one.

A word of advice: it can get really cold during the winters, so make sure you have the adequate equipment and clothes if you are visiting in the cold months. The best time to visit would probably be during the spring or late summers.

If you’re someone that enjoys a nice hike through valleys that leave you awe-struck for hours, then the Landmannalaugar is the location for you. It’s an ancient hiking trail that has almost anything you would want from a dream hike location. The multicolored mountains, the hot and relaxing springs, the lakes as well as exquisite wild life and birds, are sure to leave you feeling satisfied with your hike.

The mountains are covered by a unique mineral better known as Rhyolite. It creates plashes of different colors that are guaranteed to please the eyes of all those that pass through them. Another feature of this hiking trail is Laugavegurinn, the mystical lake that has been mentioned in ancient Viking folklore.

The total hole is 34 mile long, so make sure you have all the right equipment with you for the long but ultimately satisfying trip.

If you’re someone that’s fascinated by the terrific Viking history of Iceland, then this is a must-visit place for you. It also has the famous white concrete church built by Gudjon Samuelson. The sight of a church on top of the lush green mountains make for an incredible sight.

You will get to see the entire capital from the viewing platforms. It will allow you to appreciate this masterpiece of construction and architecture.

Blue Lagoon

This is by far the most famous tourist spot in Iceland. There have been multiple TV shows and movies that have shown this heavenly sight. Its remarkable turquoise shade as well as heated water makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy on your own.

There are reports that the water of the lake is rich in silica which has been known for its healing properties.

Think of the Blue Lagoon as a natural luxury spa that is absolutely free and additionally, has a surrounding view to behold.

Viking World

The Vikings were one of the most influential civilizations to have ever existed. They feature heavily in the history of Europe and helped lay the foundations of modern day Europe, through their voyages to far off islands that constitute modern-day Scandinavia.

If you’re ever in Iceland, you need to visit the Viking museum to get a gist of their accomplishments. You’ll have the chance to look at actual Viking ships as well as a number of items that have survived the test of time.

The Northern Lights

They’re a natural phenomenon that has become one of the top tourist attractions in the world. They’re known locally in Iceland as Aurora Borealis. It’s one thing to see them in TV shows or movies and observing them in real life. It’s a truly captivating sight that will stay with you for a very long time.

Popular Times to Tour the Grand Canyon!

They visit to see the huge mile-deep canyon that wonderfully stretches out for around 227 miles along entire northern Arizona.

However, if you are planning to visit Grand Canyon National Park, you must first decide if you are interested in whitewater rafting, hiking or camping. All of them are quite weather dependent activities and may be better suited only for particular times of the year.

Even though your travel planning depends on physical needs, preferences and your budget, you must know the best time to visit the Grand Canyon. No doubt, the scenery remains a spectacular and fascinating location throughout the year and in all seasons but if you are looking forward to a more adrenaline pumping and unforgettable experience on a 70-foot skywalk while enjoying the ample views leisurely, you must know the best times to visit the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon Often Creates its Own Weather

As one of the biggest facts of Grand Canyon and to your surprise, a sudden variation in elevation creates an enormous impact on precipitation and temperature, so chances are that the weather you expect may vary drastically on the basis of where you are in the giant Canyon. The wettest, coldest weather station in the entire region is known as Bright Angel Ranger Station located on the North Rim, whereas the driest and the hottest station are 8 miles away at Phantom Ranch.

To help you make the most of your Grand Canyon trip, here are the best and even worst times to visit Grand Canyon.

Best Time to Explore the Skywalk

The skywalk, as we know, is extended up to 4000 ft above the Grand Canyon. Many tourists visit the skywalk every year as the glass floors of the Skywalk of the West Rim offer them a very unique outlook of the gorge below. If you want to have the best experience of visiting Skywalk then you must avoid the winter season.

Winter is the least preferred time to visit this particular area. But this also means that it is the most peaceful time to actually visit this scenery. Grand Canyon West remain open throughout the year but the last ticket usually sold at 4:30 p.m. this means that you must plan to arrive early so that you can see some absolutely stunning views.

The Best time to Trip the North Rim

Even though early summer season ushers in the great weather all across the Grand Canyon, it may be the busiest time to explore the canyon. But luckily, the North Rim, during this peaks season, is a lot more isolated than compared to South Rim. This makes North Rim an ideal location during the summer season.

grand canyon north rim view bright angel point looking south scenic lookout rocks landscape panorama erosion geology rugged wilderness river sandstone formations grand canyon national park arizona usa shadows cliffs

Since the temperature in the park varies widely i.e. anywhere from the mid-80s between June – August to low-40s, the famous North Rim remains the cooler stretch of the Canyon. In fact, it shut down completely during the winter season, except for cross-country skiing and backcountry camping.

To access all the North Rim’s restaurants and lodging, you should plan your trip between May and October.

The Best Time to Tour the South Rim

South Rim is the most popular area of the park. It is among the two entrances that stay open throughout the year. Therefore, if you check out the South Rim during fall, you can strike a very good balance between inevitable crowds and great weather. However, during early September, the temperature may drop even below 0 degrees, so make sure you go prepared and wear warm clothes.

But if you are planning to venture off the well-beaten path, some services provide a Grand Canyon and beyond itinerary which include Bright Angels and South, Kaibab trails hikes, as both of them actually originate on the Grand Canyon’s South Rim.

The Best Time to Visit Grand Canyon’s, West Rim

Even though the West Rim is not actually considered as the part of the entire National Park System, this part also offers several accessible attractions throughout the year. This may include Sa’ Nyu Wa restaurant and the Skywalk.  To explore West Rim peacefully, spring is considered the best time for a visit. This is particularly true for the enthusiasts who wish to experience a whitewater rafting trip, as most of them depart from the Grand Canyon’s West Rim.

Months That are Most Suited to Visit the Grand Canyon

If you are planning to visit the Grand Canyon during the best weather conditions, then you must plan your trip during April and June. During these months, rainfall averages are quite low. Also, the temperature remains moderate without reaching the scorching summer highs. However, you may find this season extremely crowded as schools usually let out during the month of June. So plan your trip accordingly or before then to get the best experience.

When Not to Visit the Grand Canyon

Well, as we stated earlier, Grand Canyon is the only spot that remains spectacular throughout the year and in all seasons, but for your utmost comfort and memorable experience; avoid visiting the scenery during July and August. They are the hottest, busiest and rainiest month in the National Park.

This weather makes these spots far less ideal times to tour and explore the Canyon. Instead, you may plan your trip during spring or fall season. However, if you are planning to explore the North Rim then you must avoid the idea during the winter season. Visiting North Rim during winter will deprive you of open restaurants, roads, and even accommodation.

In a nutshell, it is much better to know what to expect, in advance, than finding out after reaching there. When you plan to visit the landscapes like Grand Canyon, you plan a fantastic and most memorable trip of your life. So as you now know the best time to visit the Grand Canyon, plan your trip accordingly and don’t forget to add more exotic locations to your bucket list.

Things to Do to Have the Best Time in Disneyland

It is said that the world both loves and scorns dreamers. There are multiple rags-to-riches success stories of people who managed to rise up from nothing and receive the love and respect of millions around the world. Walt Disney was one of those few lucky individuals. It can be both a challenging and somewhat puzzling thought to think of how the great man himself felt about what he was creating.

Fast forward to 2018 and the empire that he laid the foundation for has become one of the most successful franchises of all time. The measure of its success lies in the fact that children for the past 4 generations have practically grown up watching various iterations and adaptations of Disney folklore.

One of the most iconic images and assets of the Disney folklore is Disneyland. For decades now, people all over the world have found themselves planning trips to this theme park that has reached legendary status. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are; Disneyland remains a very special place to visit for anyone. After all, where else can you get the chance to meet your favorite Disney characters, set locations and rides?

You can spend an entire day at Disneyland and chances are that you still won’t be able to complete a full tour of the park. This is where you need to get a hold of your emotions and realize that you need to be a lot more efficient in your planning. This is something that’s a lot easier said than done.

This is where you’ll need a compact guide; a guide that’ll help you navigate through all the things that you definitely shouldn’t miss out on, some useful tips to avoid any unpleasant episodes and most importantly, make the most of your time at Disneyland.

So, here’s all you need to know about planning a trip to Disneyland:

The Tickets

Oddly enough, this seems to be the easiest and still the most irritating thing that most people miss out on. If you’re someone that happens to live near Disneyland, you’ll probably see a long queue of people that are waiting to purchase their tickets. You can avoid this entire hassle by simply going online and buying your tickets from there to avoid any inconvenience for yourself. Think of it like this; you won’t have to spend any extra money, you’ll have the peace of mind about the availability of tickets and perhaps most importantly, you‘ll avoid having to stand in line for who knows how many hours.

When you book your tickets online, you simply walk straight right in. You’ll easily save yourself at least an hour. Similarly, there’s something called a 3-day ticket.

If you buy yourself and your family a 3-day ticket, you’ll be eligible for the Magic Morning. Magic Morning is sort of like an early-access card. You’ll have the chance to enjoy early access to the park for one day. This means avoiding all the long queues of people and being able to enjoy the rides without any pushing and shoving.

The Hotels

It goes without saying that you’ll probably have a definite budget when planning a visit to Disneyland. If finding cheap hotels near Disneyland is something that you’re worried about then rest assured you won’t have any shortage of options. There are numerous hotels all around Disneyland that have been established precisely to cater to people that come from all over the world to have the time of their lives at Disneyland.

Now, there are two options that you can opt for when it comes to choosing cheap hotels near Disneyland. The first option is to actually stay on property, which means to actually stay inside Disneyland for the entire duration of your visit. There are three hotels that have been established to allow visitors and tourists to reside inside Disneyland; The Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand California Hotel as well as Disney’s Paradise Hotel. These are the hotels that you should opt for when it comes to enjoying the true Disney experience throughout your stay.

cheap hotels near Disneyland

When you can check-in to either one of these hotels, you’ll not only reduce any time needed to travel to Disneyland but also have the ability to get up and running and enjoy the Disneyland theme park rides as early as possible.

Similarly, if you can’t or don’t want to stay on property, then there are countless other hotels that you can opt for. These options are not inside Disneyland but are no more than a 5 minute walk away. For example, if you stay at these hotels near Disneyland you won’t have to waste time unnecessarily on trying to find a parking spot (Believe us, trying to find a spot to park your car at the largest and busiest theme park in the world is a nightmare).

Use the Mobile App

Using Disney’s dedicated mobile app to have a smooth vacation is one of the technoogical benefits that so many people visiting Disneyland seem to be oblivious of. The Disney Mobile app costs nothing but it will prove to be the ultimate guide when it comes to making the most of your trip to Disneyland. All the necessary information that you could need while visiting Disneyland will be easily available at the touch of a button. This includes the various wait times, the park maps, the restaurant menus, as well as listings for different shows that you may be interested in. Similarly, if you buy your Disneyland ticket via the app then you’ll only need to show the barcode at the gate.

It’s also worth mentioning that the app is important for using MaxPass.

Get a Locker

Lockers can come in real handy while you’re in Disneyland. There’s s much to do in Disneyland that you may find yourself exhausted or incapable to carry too many items with yourself. However, having a locker means you can stash whatever you want and keep yourself free from any additional stuff that you won’t need throughout your visit.
